Introduction

What is hostage negotiation?

Hostage negotiations are negotiations that occur in a hostage situation to resolve the crisis experienced by the hostage taker in an effort to execute a peaceful surrender (Vecchi, Van Hasselt, & Romano, 2005; Madrigal, Bowman, & McClain, 2009; Kelln & McMurty, 2007).
